About Us

SCYMF was launched in 2011 by a pianist from world-renowned Moscow Conservatory, Karina Burch.
Ms. Burch began playing piano at the age six at the Tchaikovsky Music School for Gifted Children in Moscow with professor Elza Apressova, a student of the legendary Heinrich Neuhaus, who was one of the founders of Russian School of Piano Perfomance and teacher of Sviatoslav Richter and Emil Gilels.
At the age 12, Ms. Burch had her first orchestra debut performing J.S.Bach Piano Concerto in d-minor with the State Symphony Orchestra. She was the youngest participant in the J.S.Bach and F. Mendelssohn competitions, in which she was one of the finalists. Ms. Burch graduated from Moscow Conservatory with honors and she continued her post-graduate music education for several more years.
After immigration to the United States, Ms.Burch started to work as a pianist at the San Diego Academy of Ballet and Theater. In 2002, she founded Burch Music Academy, teaching students in the best traditions of Russian School of Piano Perfomance. Ms Burch is a member of California Music Teachers Association and a member of National Music Teachers Association.
